Learning outcomes
|
In the lessons dedicated to grammar we shall further broaden and systematize the knowledge of English grammar and exercise the knowledge in order to automatize the grammar rules. The grammatical phenomena shall be confronted with Czech language. The aim of the grammatical part of this course is to prepare the student for multifaceted work with English specialized texts (especially texts on economy) for further studies. In the conversational lessons we shall continue with text analysis and breading the vocabulary in selected topics. Special attention is paid to development of communicative competences in specific situations. We shall also deal with listening as a complimentary part of the course. The written text production is exercised by home assignments (essays on a given topic.)
Broadening the systematic knowledge of English grammar in comparison with Czech language. Improving the communicative competence and broadening the vocabulary connected to selected conversational topics.

Prerequisites
|
Upper intermediate level of English as expected from high school lessons, i.e. B1 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Completing the course English 1 and having an adequate knowledge from the previous course.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Written exam
- Attendance, 2 absences max. - Doing the assigned tasks, writing the essays. - Active participating, individual preparation of homework (in a special notebook) - Passing the credit test, 3 attempts, 80 %. - Oral exam: reading of a short article, its translation to Czech; submitting a list of 500 acquired lexical items (250 from each term); answering questions, talking on a given topic.
