Learning outcomes
|
The course is understood as directly related to the course History of Poland 1. It is not possible to enroll separately. The course is intended for students of all Polish philology programmes and is also open to non-Polish-philology students with basic/passive knowledge of Polish. The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic information about the Republic of Poland, and Polish realities, including providing essential information of the geographical, historic, demographic, economic, political and cultural character. In addition to traditional specialist texts, the course will include modern didactic materials (multimedia presentations, audio and video recordings, interactive websites, virtual tours, digitized visual material from the collections of Polish museums, for example). The course is based on the teacher's explanations supported by a multimedia presentation (with rich visual material). Students will acquire not only facts about Poland but will enrich their vocabulary as well. The content of the course will be complemented by related thematic areas, on which the learners work independently (their choice is to some extent arbitrary, according to their interests and focus), the information is then presented in a group, and synthesis occurs together. The aim of the course is to equip students with the knowledge necessary for scientific and professional practice, but also for everyday encounters with Polish culture and effective intercultural communication, whether in meetings with Poles as friends or business partners. The content presented takes into account socio-cultural issues as well as contemporary Polish-Czech relations and contacts.
The students will acquire all competences as stated in the syllabus.
