Course topics: - Use of artificial intelligence tools in translation; - Non-CAT computer translators, how they work, and practical testing of their capabilities; comparison of translators; - Language corpora (data collections) and their use in translation; - Translation of proper names, toponyms, exonyms - use of lists, indexes, map materials; - Translation of spoken text from audio recordings; - The future of translation in the era of artificial intelligence.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is intended for students with a very good level of language proficiency. It is considered a follow-up and supplementary course, to a certain extent completing practical knowledge of translation in current contexts and trends. The exercises focus on working with specific texts, through the translation of which students become familiar with the possibilities of current computer translation tools, AI tools, the use of language corpora and databases, etc. The course introduces the translation of certain specific types of texts, such as the written translation of a spoken recording.
Students will acquire professional knowledge, skills, and abilities in the use of current translation tools in translation practice.

Prerequisites
|
Ability to work with specialized texts in Polish and in Czech. Very good knowledge of Polish and Czech.

|
Student performance
- Participation in lectures with a maximum absence of 2 lessons per semestre - Translation of 5 or more texts with a commentary on the translation
