Course content
1. Introduction to tourist guiding services: basic information 2. Introduction to tourist guiding services: multi-disciplinarity, guide's qualities, preparation for guiding 3. Introduction to tourist guiding services: cooperation with the client, travel agencies, individual tourism (in Polish) 4. Preparation for guiding: acquision of information, conception and segmentation of the tour 5. Preparation for guiding: glossary, terminology, linguistic preparation 6. Preparation for guiding: terrain specificities, limiting and unexpected situations, technical background. 7. Polish specificities and interests, expected knowledge and interests of a Polish client 8. Specific types of guiding: beer/wine tours with degustation, cyclistic tours, adventure tourism, gastronomy 9. Historical Olomouc: conception of guiding, itinerary 10.-11. Student's experience: guiding in historical Olomouc (extended seminar - 2 x 45 min) 12.-13. Student's experience: guiding in historical Olomouc (extended seminar - 2 x 45 min)

Learning outcomes
This seminar focuses on the practical issues of being a tourist guide. Students will become familiar with basic principles and rules for tourist guide services, the related terminology and they will have the possibility to test their newly acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
The student will learn the basic terminology from tourism (history, art development, traditions and cultural heritage) and become experienced in this field since he/she will try guiding.
Prerequisites
Ability to work with specialized texts in Polish and in Czech. Very good knowledge of Polish and Czech.

Assessment methods and criteria
unspecified
80% participation in classes including field teaching. Completion of partial written assignments during the semester. At the end of the course, the student will prepare his/her own guide commentary on a selected point on the route through historical Olomouc. The commentary will be in Polish.
