Course content |
During the lectures, the focus is put on Polish Critical Realism (Positivism), the Russian, Czech, and German Realism, its phases, predominating genres, tendentiousness of literature at that time and its representatives in the European cultural context.

The lecture provides an overview of development of European literatures in the second half of 19th century (Russian, Polish, Czech and German) from philosophical and historical point of view. It investigates the contribution of these national literatures to the European culture.
To be able to comprehend at a high level the literary content and to be familiar with the literary-cultural contexts and scopes. |

An essay accompanied by PowerPoint presnetation dealing with the literary work of one representative of National Realism. |
