Course content
The course focuses on the intensive acquisition of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures used in typical everyday communication situations, taking into account Polish cultural context. Among other things, students will learn to express their opinions in Polish (or to agree with or disagree with someone else's opinion), to argue a point, and to reach a compromise. Authentic materials are used in class, allowing students to become familiar with contemporary language. The selection of topics encourages argumentation, contributes to the development of communicative competence, and provides students with opportunities to express their views on various topics related to everyday life. Individual lessons follow the structure of the textbook (see course materials). Topic areas: 1-3. Social interaction and etiquette: introductions, forms of address, greetings, invitations, requests, advice, suggestions, and expressing agreement and disagreement. 4-6. Basics of Polish grammar: inflection in Polish, irregular forms, exceptions, communicative grammar, sentence structures. 7-9.
