Course content
The seminar aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of areas of social andragogy practice that interest them in relation to their intended career orientation or interest. The list of topics is only a guide; over the course of the semester the group will select two or three topics to explore in greater depth. Depending on the current possibilities, the seminar includes discussions with colleagues from practice and excursions to various institutions providing social counselling and education to their users. 1. Definition of social counselling, history, social role and expectations, relation to education, integration into andragogy. 2. The field of social counselling, historical development, current form. Relationship to other helping professions. 3. The personality of the social counsellor, the profession of the social counsellor, ethics in the profession of the social counsellor. 4. The individual and the family as users of social counselling. 5. Specific target groups of social counselling, their typology, possibilities and limits of their andragogical influence. 6. Surrogate family care, institutional education, follow-up services after the end of foster care for young adults. 7. Seniors as users of social counselling, social services for the elderly, work with the family of the elderly. 8. Clients with disabilities in social counselling practice - outpatient and outreach programmes. 9. Clients with disabilities in social counselling practice - residential services. 10. Homeless people as users of social counselling, social services. 11. Perpetrators, victims and witnesses of domestic violence as users of social counselling, social services. 12. Other persons socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion in social counselling practice.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the breadth and diversity of the field of andragogue practice when working with people at risk of social impairment or social exclusion. Social counselling is perceived as a possible profile of andragogical influence on the life reality of (not only) adults, which contains numerous educational elements. The content of the course is defined as the application of the theoretical concept of andragogy to a specific field of practice.
Orientation in the field of practice of andragogy. Deepening knowledge of selected areas of andragogical practice.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in andragogy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Attendance of at least 75% at the seminar is compulsory. Active participation in the seminar. Submission of the assigned colloquium paper of cca 5 standard pages. The topic will be assigned in the course.
