Course content
|
1. Academic environment and study on the university (communication with the teachers and with the institutions of the faculty, the institution of science and sociolgie in the Czech Republic and abroad) 2. Scientific knowledge (science, philosophy, art, science and the specificity of social sciences, paradigms in science) 3. The basics of scientific thinking (theory and empirical data, research, applications, ethical principles in science and research) 4. Scientific text (the strategy of making scientific text, the use of information, resources, excerpts, formal requirements of the scientific texts 5. Working with databases, bibliographic citations, standards of bibliographic citations and references (ISO standard 690), plagiarism 6.12. The analysis of text (reading and interpretation of sociological text)

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the environment of the university, fundamentals of scientific work and to develop the ability to analyze sociological text.
The course does not presuppose specific eligibility.

Prerequisites
|
Prerequisite of the course is an active work in the seminar.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
The course presuppose reading and analysing of assigned texts. Semminar is compulsory and assumes the active work of all enrolled students. It is possible to apologize only two absences.
