Course content
1. Context of adult education. Basic terminology, context, connections of adult education in relation to the theories of learning and education of adults. 2. Theories of learning and education of adults. Basic learning and adult education theories. 3. Classification of education theories. Various classifications of education theories. 4. Classification of education theories according to Y. Bertrand. Basic criteria for the classification, groups of education theories in this classification. 5. Spiritualistic theories of education. Character of the spiritualistic theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 6. Personality theories of education. Character of the personality theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 7. Constructivist theories of education. Character of the constructivist theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 8. Technological theories of education. Character of the technological theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 9. Social cognitive theories of education. Character of the social cognitive theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 10. Social theories of education. Character of the social theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 11. Academic theories of education. Character of the academic theories of education - sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use. 12. Bertrand´s classification of education theories in the context of present situation and trends in adult education. Position of individual types of theories in the present situation and stage of development of adult education.

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with an introduction of theories of adult education and their classification, especially with elucidation of seven types of theories according to Bertand´s classification and their application to formal and nonformal adult education.
The graduate of the discipline can: - name and explain two typologies of education theories, - characterize Bertrand´s typology of education theories, - characterize spiritualistic theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize personality theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize constructivist theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize technological theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize social cognitive theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize social theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - characterize academic theories of education and their sources, goals, role of the lecturer and participant, material and non-material conditions of education, examples, practical use, - explain the Bertrand's education theories classification in terms of the present situation in education for adults context and actual trends. The graduate of the discipline: - is able to use individual types of education theories in real adult education activities. The graduate of the discipline: - understands individual education theories, can comprehensively explain, connect them with already gained knowledge from andragogy disciplines and can use in adult education practice.
