Course content
1. What is andragogy? Definition of the terminological frame, basic conceptions, and modalities of andragogy. 2. Historical development of andragogy in the world. Basic development phases of andragogical thinking, institutionalization of andragogy in individual countries, American, Holland, German, Swiss, Polish, Yugoslavian, and other definitions of andragogy. 3. Historical development of andragogy in the CR. Showing the development of andragogical thinking in C(S)(S)R - foundations of the popular education, political education, foundation of expert workplaces and departments, the concept of integral andragogy from Vladimir Joochamnn, description of the present situation. 4. The subject of andragogy. Andragogy as mobilization of human capital in the permanent social change environment, as orienting an adult in critical points of the life span, as dealing between and adult and social institutions, as a science about the connections between the synthetic status changes etc. 5. Functions of education. Education as a mean of social functions, as a mean of maintaining the distribution of power, as a lift, insurance, defining credentials, mechanisms of keeping power through education, education as a mean of personality development. 6. Object of andragogy. Dimensions of the adult´s life span, approaches towards the object of andragogy from various theories and models - Knowles, Jarvis, Brookfield, Illich, Foucault, Buber, Freire. 7. Factors of andragogical interaction. The relation between the subject and the object, explaining the curriculum, specification of the factors of andragogical interaction - teaching and its forms, social group, game, work, art, language, media, ? 8. Character of andragogy. Andragogy as an inductive, applied, problem-centred, synthetic, integrative, multi-, inter-, and trans-disciplinary science. Institutionalization of andragogy and possible ways to legitimate it. 9. Position of andragogy in the scientific system. The relation between andragogy and its supportive disciplines, inspiring, terminological and methodological sources in sociology, pedagogy, and psychology. Creating the own disciplinary space in connection with the legitimation. 10. Educational dimension of andragogy. Functional literacy as an indicator of human capital quality; dimensions of educational system, lifelong learning and education in strategies of EU, OECD and UNESCO. 11. Four cultures in education. Expert culture, engineer culture, prophet culture, communicative culture and culture of a game in W. Leirman´s theory; application of culture in andragogical intervention. 12. Educational event projecting. Educational need analysis, interpreting the results of the analysis, formulating goals, defining the participant´s profile and the graduate profile, definition of the content (disciplines inventory, study plan), formulating curriculum, annotations, choice of forms, methods and techniques of education, choice of didactic aids, creating study materials, organization, material, technical, financial aspects, choice of lecturers, suggestion for evaluation.

Learning outcomes
The goal of this discipline is to introduce andragogy in the field of practice, scientific discourse and field of study. It guides participants through the historical context to the contemporary issues andragogy is dealing with. It focuses on subject, object and crucial theories, whose basics practical application will be shown.
-Student can define andragogy in its modalities. - Student can name and explain the definitions of the subject of andragogy. - Student can name individual approaches to the object of andragogy. - Student knows the points of historical development of andragogy. - Student can use approaches towards the object of andragogy according to a situation. - Student can prepare an educational event in all its steps. - Student can evaluate appropriateness of using individual means of andragogical intervention. - Student can argue in a discussion about the legitimacy of andragogy. - Student explains the position of andragogy in the broad context of its concept.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

The discipline is finished with an exam which has an oral test form. Questions in the written part are formulated according to the recommended study material and to information which students receive in the tutorial.
