1. Theory, method, technique, strategy. Basic terminology. 2. General principles of using techniques in social work, frequent mistakes. 3. Interaction between a social worker and a client when working with a technique in social work. 4. The goals of the techniques in social work, their limits and working with the limits. 5. Diagnostic and therapeutic methods in social work. 6. Family portrait, magic family portrait. Collage. 7. Circle of emotions, activities, features. Dispositions scale. 8. Social field. 9. Life curve. 10. Time snaps. Variations of the small step technique. 11. Pluses and minuses, conflicts in life. 12. Strategy of problem solving. Scenario work.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of this training discipline is to teach students details of various techniques of social work, their possible ways of using in social work practise, in its diagnostic and therapeutic form. Students should know basic rules and options of techniques in social work and describe their foundations and ways of using. One part of the course is to train to prepare tools for the techniques, basic instructions and starting and development of therapeutic and diagnostic thinking.
Students know the various offer of social work techniques and know how to use them appropriately to particular need of diagnostic or therapy in social work. Students know the techniques of social work and can interpret them and affectively use them in the process of working with a client.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student
Obligatory presence in the tutorial, activity during the tutorial. As part of the correspondence assignment, the student will describe and evaluate the practical application of the selected social work technique with a social work client. The purpose is to test the newly acquired knowledge and skills in social work practice and to try to evaluate them. The student can do the training at his/her workplace or in a supervised professional practice. The scope of the correspondence assignment is set at 5 standard pages.
