Course content
Introduction to work with computer in data analysis, basic knowledge of special software for data processing Revision of basic statistical concepts, frequency processing of statistical file Descriptive statistics - calculation of basic statistical characteristics of the whole set and its sub-sets Theoretical distributions and method of estimation of normal frequency distribution parameters Transformation of variables, case selections Introduction to statistical hypothesis testing, methods of data normality verification Parametric and non-parametric tests of hypotheses about distribution parameters Analysis of variance and its nonparametric equivalent Basics of correlation analysis - pivot table and chi square test Revealing the influence of the third variable, partial correlation Basics of regression analysis - focused on linear regression model Repetition

Learning outcomes
The course develops skills necessary for successful implementation of empirical research in the field of sociology of religion. During the course, students will be introduced to various practical approaches and sociological researches. The whole process of research preparation, realization and evaluation will be presented on concrete examples of research conducted within sociology of religion.

During the seminars, students will demonstrate the ability to process existing quantitative and qualitative data (to perform their secondary analysis) and the ability to create data. They will elaborate this research proposal in a seminar paper and present it during the final exam.
