Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the theoretical and practical introduction to the field research methodology of religion, which will be presented as a challenging but dynamically developing discipline that can be implemented in any environment. Special attention will be paid to anchoring ethnography as a research of the intersection of global phenomena and structural forces with the concrete lived experience of human actors. Ethnography must then be based on consistent interconnection and reflection of one's own theoretical and epistemological position.
Based on the reading of methodological texts and examples of field research, as well as through the practice of ethnographic methods (participating observation, writing field notes and their processing), students will acquire skills for subsequent implementation of their own field research.
