Course content
State exam questions: 1. Concept of social work, its definition and focus. 2. Ethics of social work, basic ethical problems and dilemmas of social work. 3. Psychoanalysis and its influence on the development of social work. 4. The pre-theoretical phase of social work development and Mary Richmond's medical approach. 5. Psychosocial approach in social work. 6. The functionalist approach in social work. 7. Psychological and educational social therapy of Marie Krakešová. 8. Behavioural and cognitive approaches in social work. 9. Cognitive behavioural method of social work and reality therapy. 10. Humanistic trends in social work. 11. Systemic approach in social work. 12. Historical development of social work, contemporary concepts and trends in social work. 13. Individual social work, its phases and procedures. 14. Counselling in social work. 15. Social work with groups, self-help groups. 16. Community social work. 17. Streetwork as a specific form of social work. 18. Techniques of social work. 19. Social work with a selected client group - specifics, principles, objectives. 20. Institutions of social work, social policy in social work.

Learning outcomes
State final examination, the student certifies knowledge of the disciplines Theory and Methods of Social Work, which he/she has completed throughout the study.
Validated competencies: - student knows the definition of social work - student knows the basic sections of the development of social work theories and methods and can define them - student knows the basic pillars of social work theories and can distinguish them in their characteristics - student reproduces the basic theses of individual social work theories and methods - student can critically evaluate different definitions of social work - student is able to distinguish and critically evaluate the basic sections of the development of social work theories and methods - student can propose the application of a particular social work theory or method to a specific social work client - student can critically evaluate the basic theses of individual social work theories and methods - student is familiar with the basic overview of social work theories and methods and can apply this theoretical knowledge in model cases to specific problems of particular social work clients - student is familiar with the existing literature on social work theories and methods and is able to use this competence to further his/her education - student characterises the human relationship in the helping professions, knows its benefits and risks - student characterises the problem client in social work and its basic forms - student characterises basic disabilities and seizures and their impact on the implementation of social work with the client - student is able to define the concepts of probation and mediation - student knows the basic characteristics of domestic violence - student can critically evaluate the use of human relationships in social work practice - student can critically evaluate the impact of disability and sepsis on the competence of the social work client - student can design different social work practices to meet the needs of people with disabilities and seniors - student understands the issue of domestic violence and can develop a plan of action for a victim of domestic violence - student is familiar with the problems of clients of specific target groups of social work, which have been introduced in the discipline, and can apply this theoretical knowledge in model cases to specific problems of specific social work clients - student is familiar with the existing literature on the topic of the course and is able to use this competence for his/her further education
