1. Introduction to the study of media 2. What is and is not (theory of) media communication, definition in relation to other fields of study 3. Periodization of media communication and media history 4. The birth and development of journalism or where it came from, how and why it came from and how it has changed from the beginning to today 5. Media and society (1): media systems 6. Media and society (2): media theory and the function of media in society 7. intermediate repetition 8. News as an image of society - the basis of journalism and the core of media production 9. Effects and effects of media communication on individuals and society 10. Learning outcomes
The course provides a basic insight into the media and their position and functioning in society. The aim is to provide students with a basic overview of the possibilities of studying the media and its problems. Students will learn about the roles media play in society, how they can be considered, the basic effects of media on society, the issue of media audiences (or audiences), the history of mass media and the specifics of certain media content or forms (news, new media, etc.) and the possibilities of their analysis.

Interest in the study of media in relation to society.
