Course content
|
1. Master thesis requirements, operationalization of its goals, conceptual and theoretical foundation, and methodology. 2. Master thesis structure, content, chapters and paragraphs. 3. Reviewing the literature, quotation norms, literature choice, and relevant literature. 4. Formal standards of master thesis, annotation, submission deadlines, the form of submission. 5. Thesis supervisor, tutorial forms, the role of the thesis supervisor. 6. Forthcoming proposal of master thesis topic (points 7 - 12), structure of the forthcoming proposal of master thesis topic, requirements. 7. Master thesis title, title vs. topic. 8. Topic characteristic, content. 9. Formulating the master thesis goal, difficulties during formulating the goals, importance of formulating the goals, operationalization of the goals. 10. Methodology and methods of the thesis, brief characteristic of the way to achieve the goal. 11. List of the basic literature for MT, see point 3. 12. Suggestion toward the supervisor of the thesis, see point 5.

Learning outcomes

Selection and concretization of the topic of the diploma thesis; the seminar will lead to the proposition of a suitable topic of a diploma thesis (including an annotation, goal setting, formulation of methods, techniques, basic literature concerning the topic and the proposal of the diploma thesis consultant) which will serves as a basis for the filling in the "Diploma Thesis Assignment" form.
Student knows fundamental requirements for the methodological frame of master thesis. Student knows fundamental formal requirements of master thesis. Student is able to compile forthcoming proposal of master thesis topic. Student is capable to suggest appropriate methodological process for the master thesis. Student is capable to work with relevant literature according to particular master thesis topic. Student is capable to choose appropriate theoretical basis for particular master thesis topic.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Seminar Work
Credit: to gain the credit it is necessary to formulate and present so-called design of the master thesis topic. After its presentation it is necessary to make it final and send it to be checked by the set date, possibly to reformulate it according to the feedback.
