Course content
1. Introduction to family law - sources, principles 2. Marriage - origin, duties and rights of spouses, extinction 3. Divorce 4. Parenting - determination and denial of motherhood and paternity 5. Adoption 6. Parental responsibility 7. The best interests of the child, participation rights of the child 8. Maintenance obligation 9. Substitute family care 10. Institutional and protective care 11. International family law 12. Social and legal protection of children

Learning outcomes
The aim of the discipline is to provide students with knowledge enabling them to acquire basic and deeper orientation in substantive and procedural family law. An integral part of the course is the elaboration of written submissions and solving model situations, which should not only strengthen students' knowledge, but also lead to the ability to implement the acquired knowledge in the practice of social work.
Students will acquire the knowledge, skills and competences of family law. They will be familiar with the legislation in this area and at the same time acquire practical skills suitable for a social worker.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Requirements for students include compulsory active attendance at seminars, elaboration of a task during the semester and a oral exam at the end of the course.
