Course content

1. Consulting. Counseling in social services. 2. Types of counseling. Helping and other counseling. 3. Approaches in counseling. 4. Personality and competencies of the consultant. 5. Interaction processes in counseling. Communication. Verbal communication. Nonverbal Communication. Assertiveness. 6. Counseling process, phases of counseling process. 7. Counseling relationship and its pitfalls in the counseling process. 8. Work with client's order. 9. The course of counseling. Conditions for the course of the counseling process. 10. Individual, couple, family and group counseling. 11. Specifics of counseling with respect to developmental stages of age. 12. Consulting with specific groups of clients.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the discipline is to define counseling as an integral part of social work, to define the basic components of the counseling process, the structure of the counseling process, to characterize various types of counseling and to present the most frequently used methods and techniques in counseling. Teaching includes not only interpretation but also training (including direct social learning) and follow-up discussions.
Acquired knowledge: - The student can define helping counseling - The student can describe the course of counseling and characterize its individual phases - The student is able to explain the specifics of individual, couple and group counseling - The student is able to analyze key pitfalls of the counseling process in social work - The student knows basic assertive rights and duties Acquired skills: - The student is able to use his / her knowledge of the counseling process in the context of social work - The student can design consulting strategies for selected types of clients Eligibility acquired: - The student is able to use knowledge about counseling and counseling process and acquired skills in the context of social work

Active participation in the lesson. The colloquium has two parts: oral + written in Moodle (details will be specified in class)
