Kurz představí základní charakteristiky a východiska politické antropologie coby specifické subdisciplíny sociokulturní antropologie, která se zabývá v mezikulturní perspektivě analýzou vzniku, vývoje a fungování politických systémů a institucí. Studenti budou seznámeni s různými přístupy a náhledy na politické fenomény různorodých společností a kultur. Kurz seznámí posluchače jednak s klíčovými etnografiemi střední a východní Evropy, jednak s nejvýznamnějšími pracemi politické antropologie v rámci afrických studií.
The aim of the course is to provide the students with different approaches to current societies going through a social change from a perspective based on the tradition of political anthropology. The goal is to establish a theoretical basis regarding main concepts of the discipline and in doing so, the student is expected to analyze current developments in a global and local scale, being able to use micro perspective and ethnography as key instruments for future research.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria

Analýza výkonů studenta, Seminární práce
Active participation in seminars and lectures. Close readings and study of materials. A seminar work on a chosen topic (1,500-2,000 words) due during the last session of the semester (both in person and by email). A student can submit it even before the last semester week.
