Learning outcomes
The course introduces into the current discussion about the transformations of modern society in the phase of globalization and the place of religion in a changing world. Students will be acquainted with contemporary theories of modernization and globalization and with the critique of ethnocentrism. In addition to the knowledge of theory, students will gain an overview of selected examples of reactions in religious life to the global situation.
At the end of the course students should be able to critically analyze various theoretical background, arguments and consequences of contemporary discussion about the place of religion in a globalizing world.
