Course content
|
1. Course objective, requirements for completion, requirements for course - continuous performance of tasks; diversity of religious life in contemporary Czech society - introduction 2. Basics of qualitative field research, selected examples of field research tools and techniques (field journal keeping, observation, interview) 3. Presentation of a selected religious group or phenomenon and familiarization with available information 4. Field survey - Phase 1 (observation, field log) 5. Summary of the first phase 6. Information on the course and results of the first phase of the research, reflexive discussions, determination of further steps (modification of the topic and research questions, methodologies); open coding methods 7. Field Survey - Phase 2 (conducting semi-structured interview, transcription and coding) 8. Summary of the second phase 9. Presentation of the coding of the interview 10. Preparation of the final text - partial research reports 11. Presentation of the first version of the partial research report and discussion of the final version of the partial research report 12. Summary and practice

Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students to the issue of empirical qualitative research, which is carried out on a particular religious group or religious phenomenon. It focuses primarily on non-traditional religious groups, as part of the objectives of the course is to familiarize students with the diversity of religious life in contemporary Czech society.
During the course students will learn the basics of creating research design and formulating research questions and strategies. They will verify their theoretical knowledge in practice during a small field survey. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is aimed at acquiring skills for using two basic qualitative investigation techniques - observation and interview.
