This course introduces the issue of studying religion in museums. Students will be introduced how it is possible to approach from a professional point of view to religious objects displayed in museum exhibitions, how they are presented in this sort of public space, as well as how museums create stories that contribute to the formation of local or national identity.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student studies the required literature on the topic, regularly participates in classes and joint visits to selected museums. At the end of the course, he presents a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation on findings from direct observation in a selected museum, including a visual appendix and a selected bibliography on the topic. The presentation will focus on the description and interpretation of religious issues in the museum.
