Course content
1. Present problems of legitimization in andragogy and integral andragogy - dispute about the scientific character of andragogy. Making pedagogy and andragogy ideologies. Language of andragogy. Legitimization strategies, relevance of the discussions about the legitimization of andragogy. Andragogy as an art and as a science. Andragogy as a technology of adult education, human resource development and social work. 2. Character of andragogy and its place within the human sciences and the educational theories. Autonomy of andragogy in the field of the educational theories - vision or reality? Problem of normativity among the educational theories and andragogy or integral andragogy. Integrative function of andragogy among the human sciences. Andragogy as an applied theory about a human being and for a human being. Inductive character of andragogy. 3. Trans-disciplinary character of andragogy. General definition of inter-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary character of humanities and andragogy. Psychological, sociological and cultural anthropological sources of andragogy and integral andragogy. Pedagogy and andragogy - differences and analogies in pedagogical and andragogy categories. 4. Education theories, andragogy as an education theory and as integral praxeology theory. The term of education (social activity and social function), psychological dispositions, conceptualization of the term. Differentiation of education events, differences among goals, difference among participants. Andragogy as an education theory within the humanities. Praxeology, social engineering and andragogy. Andragogy and integral andragogy, limits of the integrative concept of andragogy. 5. Methodological rules in education theories and in andragogy. Problems and hypothesis as starting-points. Quantitative and qualitative strategies in research in andragogy. Scientific theories as the research goals. Gaining facts to construct theories, the issues of field research in andragogy. 6. Regulations and theories in the educational theory. The lack of universal regulations in andragogy. Regulations in pure and social sciences. Availability of the observation, limits of the experiment in social sciences. Construction and interpretation. 7. Meta-theories of education. The term meta-theory, critical analysis of the educational theories, the relationship between educational praxis and theory in pedagogy and andragogy. Political andragogy, confessional andragogy, Marxistic pedagogy of adults. Value independence as a distinguishing criterion. Criticism of the social engineering ideology. 8. Language of the educational theory language of andragogy. Informative and imperative language in pedagogy and in andragogy. Examples of the language of pedagogy and social work. Emotivism of the language. Connotation of the andragogical terminology. Intelligibility of the theory and praxis of andragogy. 9. Philosophical - anthropological, sociological and psychological concept of adulthood. Adulthood as searching and finding identity. Biodromal interpretation of adulthood, Freud´s theory of adulthood, transaction psychology, Erickon´s specific tasks of the adulthood phases. Life span, life cycles. 10. Knowledge society, post-industrial society, global society as the milieu for andragogical interventions. The function of science in the knowledge society. Features of the global or post-industrial society. The turnover from the discipline imperative of the industrialism to the ethics of post-industrialism in the world of work. 11. Getting the facts for the theory construction in the educational theories and in andragogy. Description, exploration research, case studies, experiment. Limits of the used approaches. 12. Learning outcomes
The aim of course is to provide adult education and integral andragogy and essential sub categories within the general context of the methodology of science and science education. Special emphasis is placed on the specific nature of adult education and adult education as an integral science, the relationship to supporting scientific disciplines, methods of exploring in the andragogy and the methods and techniques of andragogy research.
Student: - knows the general rules of methodology in andragogy, - is aware of general principles of methodology in andragogy an methodology in integral andragogy. Student can choose appropriate research strategy to solve a research problem in andragogy and integral andragogy. Student can assess the quality of a research project, especially the validity of methods and techniques.

Mark

The credit is awarded on the basis of the discussion on the correspondence task. To get to the exam it is necessary to gain the credit. The exam has an oral test form.
