1. Introducing the topic of manager competencies. 2. Definition of the status and role of managers. Definition of the term manager, management functions, levels of managing. 3. Statement of manager´s work. 4. Manager´s work analysis. Manager and his/her mission, surroundings and milieu of the manager, the role of manager in change management. 5. Competencies. Definition of the term competency, typology of competencies, key competencies. 6. Competency model and its creation. Types of competency modes, approaches towards competency models, individual steps in the process of competency model creation. 7. Using the competency model when managing and developing the human resources in a company. Work evaluation, goal management, development and education, career planning. 8. Competency management. 9. Competent manager identification. Key competencies of the manager, typology of manager´s competencies in theoretical concepts. 10. Possible ways to measure and develop manager´s competencies according to his/her function and position in organization. Educational needs identification, measuring the level of competencies, creation of the educational programmes for managers. 11. Managers´ development and education I. Formal and non-formal approach towards managers´ development, education and development methods. 12. Managers´ development and education II. Position rotation, educating when working, coaching/mentoring, self-development, learning by doing, 360grades feed-back, etc.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal is to acquire competencies in creating a competency model for the area of professional competencies of managers and its use in the organization. The subject is the definition of the status, role and activities of managers, analyzing their activities, identification of competencies Manager, creating and processing competency model manager, determining the level of competence required by function and executive positions and the use of a competency model for the management and development of human resources in the organization.
Student is able to: - define and describe the term competence and competency model, - define individual steps of competency model creation, - name manager´s professional competencies. Student can: - analyse individual activities of a manager, - identify manager´s professional competencies, - integrate identified competencies into a group of competencies according to a chosen model, - create a competency model for a manager. Student is capable to: - use gained information in his/her praxis, - use competency model for management of human resources in an organization.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance, Seminar Work
This course is concluded with colloquium. To gain the colloquium it is necessary to work out the correspondence task and gain positive feed-back to it and active participating on the tutorials. Colloquium will be done as group discussions on possible ways to develop managers´ competencies.
