Course content
|
1. The term community and community education Identification of the terminology through definitions and their reflections. 2. The origin of community education Setting historical points of community education. 3. Principles of community education Characteristics, principles and realization of community education. 4. Ways and alternatives to community education. 5. Contexts of community education, community work and community care. Definition of the characteristics which allow comparing the terms, finding the differences between them. 6. Anthropological aspects of community education. Presentation of the anthropological aspects of community education through educology. Relationship between community education and general andragogical categories. 7. Community education as a process of humanization in education. Introducing the community education as a process of humanization in education. Focusing on the animation influence, cultural objectivities and socialization. Relationship between community education and sociological terms such as traditional and modern society, and solidarity. 8. Community institutions, community library and community school. Characteristics of a community institution and its activities. Community library in its social sense, functions and role. Community school as a cultural and educational centre of the town. Status of community school in USA, GB and CR. Case studies of community institutions. 9. Community education as a part of community-centred programmes. Realization of the community education through community-centred programmes. Characteristics of the programme, its features and structure. Examples of community-centred programmes in CR and abroad. 10. Community education in international documents. Identification of the community educations aspects in: UNESCO - Learning available treasure, World declaration of learning for everyone. 11. Community education in national documents. Memorandum about lifelong learning, White book of CR, Long term education plan in CR, Strategy of lifelong learning in CR. 12. Conditions for creating the community-centred programmes. Searching the needs and analysing them. Geographic and demographic analysis, SWOT analysis, engaging the public, snowball, community planning.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to define the terminology community education and reflect its meaning, to interpret the concept of community education in relation to community work and educational programs. The discipline will be defined principles of community education on examples of good practice and through selected case studies of domestic and foreign community schools, community centers, community libraries, etc. Another objective of the course is a comparison of community-based programs in the country and abroad; identification andragogical aspects of community education in structure and design of community-based programs for specific issues.
Student is able to: - define and describe the term community, community education, its principles and trends, - interpret community education in connection with community work and education programmes. Student can: - identify andragogical aspects of community education, - suggest a structure of community-centred programme for a particular topic. Student is capable to: - use gained knowledge in the praxis, - reflect the meaning of community education and create educational programme for a particular target group.

To gain the credit, it is necessary to work out the correspondence task and send it in written form, and to be active during tutorials. To get to the exam it is necessary to gain the credit. The exam has a written test form.
