This discipline is connected to the course Supervised practical education I. - VI. which takes place in every semester of the studies. Student submits a case study worked out for this case study seminar. The case study can be discussed plenary. Students are encouraged to share their experience. When working on the case study, student can use the theoretical knowledge gained during the studies, literature, legislation, and experience from the workplace of his/her practical education. The case study should describe the part of the story of an individual, a family or a group where we can see the intervention of a social worker and the social change it has caused. The description should be so accurate so other experts can understand the sequence of social events. For this it is necessary to mention: - objective information about the case; - the student´s point of view, his/her understanding of the event; - theoretical basis connected; - professional procedures (methods, ways of intervention, creation of a situation) which were used by the student or other helping professionals in the process. The form of the case study fully depends of the students decision, but it has to have 8 - 10 pages and fulfil the following criteria: - student clarifies precisely the nature of the problems; - student shows the adequate and objective information about the development and context of the problem; - student situates the case into the legislation frame; - student explains the observations, impressions, thoughts, or hypothesis connected to the problem and shows the connections with theoretical knowledge about the problem; - student describes what had happened with the problem, how it developed and changed during the meetings (intervention) in relation with the activity of a student or other helping professionals. Heir it is necessary to describe as precisely as possible the role of a student in the process and formulate the relations between the helping professionals´ activities and the change of the problem and define the ones which were essential and why; - student shows, how the participation of the professionals was terminated, or with what result; - student shows, what was learnt from this case, assesses the case; - if there is a critical attitude of a student toward some part of the case, then student formulates other possible solutions.
