Learning outcomes

This course will introduce students to 20th century European and Czech philosophy of religion, discuss the nature of modern Western thought, as well as the disputes and controversies between Christian-oriented philosophers, positivists and Marxists, proponents of religious modernization and traditionalists, theists, non-believers and atheists. Issues such as in particular the relationship between science and religion, reason and faith, the problem of the historical Jesus or the idea of a new religion and the search for spirituality for modern man will be presented thematically, but will also take into account the historical and social point of view.
