Course content
1. Information about the course, student's duties and the way of completion, basic introduction to the study of Buddhism in the West 2. Discovering East again 3. Buddhism in the USA 9. Engaged Buddhism 10. Meditation movement and Buddhism and science - mind and life institute 11. Hollywood Buddhism 12. Buddhism in the Czech Republic 13. Presentation of seminar papers - credit week

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the transformation of selected religious traditions (Buddhism) in the Euro-American cultural environment. Students will learn about the history of Buddhism penetration into selected (important) countries of Europe and North America, and in the description of this history, they will learn how to identify common or different ways of Buddhism transformation by Western candidates for Buddhism. In addition to history, students will acquire the ability to understand and analyze new forms of Buddhism, including those that are globally widespread. Students will be able to critically understand Western modifications of Buddhism and explain the context of this process.

Form of completion of the course: Semi-structured interview with Buddhist group settled in Olomouc Seminar paper Presentation of seminar paper (20 min.)
