Systematic and sustained work on the dissertation project according to the requirements set down by the supervisor and formulated in the individual study plan.

Learning outcomes
|
Abilities to: - define a topic feasible within the scope of a PhD dissertation; - design a research plan and timeline of a dissertation project; - conduct appropriate bibliographic research at the onset of the dissertation project and build on it in later phases; - formulate a research question, and develop theoretical and methodological frameworks for the dissertation project, - report to the supervisor on the progress and findings of the project and also to formulate questions concerning the next steps in face-to-face consultations and by correspondence; - assess the progress of the research project at regular intervals and, accordingly, make adjustments to the timeline, and if relevant, to the research aims, theoretical framework and methodology; - design the structure of the dissertation text.

The prerequisite for enrolment is the successful completion of Dissertation Seminar 2.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

Monthly consultations face-to-face or by correspondence with the supervisor, according to the latter's instructions. Typical length of one consultation is 60 minutes. Cooperate with the supervisor on the dissertation plan design, formulation of the research question, and theoretical and methodological frameworks. Submit written research documentation, results and parts of the dissertation text to the supervisor for assessment according to the latter's requirements and an agreed upon schedule.
