Course content
The course covers the following fields: Healthcare interpreting Police interpreting Interpreting in social services Interpreting in asylum proceedings Education interpreting Business interpreting Escort interpreting Court interpreting

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
The interpreting seminar covers community and dialogue interpreting. Students are introduced to the specifics of community interpreting and practice interpreting in typical community settings: medical examination, police interview, asylum proceedings, job office interview. The modalities covered include dialogue interpreting, sight translation and consecutive interpreting. In addition to community interpreting settings, the course also covers typical dialogue interpreting scenarios such as business meetings, tour guides or factory visits. Basics of court interpreting are also covered.
Students will learn about the most common community and dialogue interpreting settings. Students also learn Czech and Spanish terminology of the respective fields. Students develop consecutive and dialogue interpreting as well as sight translation skills.
Prerequisites
Active knowledge of Czech is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student

1. Regular attendance and active participation in classes (a maximum of 2 missed classes) 2. Preparing one or two model dialogues 3. Compiling a glossary 4. Speech writing and interpreting at a mock conference 5. Test on terminology and phraseology of the fields covered
