Course content
The course coveres the following topics: 1) Company law (Sociedades mercantiles) 2) Insurance (Seguros) 3) Banking (Sistema bancario) 4) Securities (Títulos valores) 5) Accounting (Contabilidad) 6) Taxes (Fiscalidad) 7) Employment law (Derecho laboral) 8) International trade (Comercio internacional) 9) Business letters (Cartas comerciales) Not all of the above topic will be necessarrily covered depending on the time available and the preferences of students.

Learning outcomes
This course deals with and compares economic and business law terminology in Czech and Spanish. The course covers not only business law terminology proper, but also fields such as accounting, insurance, securities, banking or employment law. The terminology is then applied to translating prototypical documents of the respective fields, such as company foundation documents, certificates of incorporation, financial statements, or more complex contracts (e.g. an insurance or loan contracts). Business correspondence in Spanish and Czech is also analysed. Documents are translated both from and to Spanish.
Students acquire economic, financial and business law terminology. Students will be able to translate related documents and use available online and lexicograhic sources.
Prerequisites
Active knowledge of Czech is required.

Assessment methods and criteria

1) Regular attendance (a maximum of 2 missed classes in a semester) 2) Active participation in classes and completion of any tasks assigned. 3) Final test focusing on terminology and phraseology (pass mark: 75%)
