Course content
The course deals with the following areas of morphology, applied to the Spanish language: 1. Morphology: the object of study. Derivative, compositional and inflectional morphology. 2. Morpheme and morph. Classification of morphemes, semantic and structural criterion. Lexeme / root, affixes, endings. Bound and free morphemes. Allomorphs. 3. Morphological analysis. Types of words. 4. Word formation. Types of derivation. Derivation vs. flexion. 5. Prefixation. Types of prefixes. 6. Suffixation. Types of suffixes. 7. Parasynthesis. 8. Interfixation and infixation. 9. Composition. 10. Abbreviations and acronyms.

Learning outcomes
Classes focus on acquiring knowledge about the basic morphological concepts, as well as about the morphological analysis and about three morphological processes (especially inflection, derivation and composition). Seminars focus on practical application of theoretical knowledge.
Students will acquire knowledge about the structure and formation of Spanish words, allowing them to understand correctly and produce grammatically correct and inteligible utterances in the Spanish language.
Prerequisites
Having passed linguistic subjects of the 1st year of Spanish Philology.
