Course content
The course will cover the following topics: 1. Vocabulario: verbos y expresiones en sentido figurado, sistema educativo y titulaciones, léxico relacionado con el arte y las exposiciones, los sentidos y la percepción, registro coloquial, relaciones entre personas, carácter y personalidad, la palabra experiencia y sus significados, polisemia y colocaciones léxicas (ejemplo, contacto, interés y práctica), léxico de la desigualdad de género, expresiones con el verbo sentir(se), léxico para describir el ambiente de un lugar, vocabulario para hablar del origen de las personas, léxico para hablar de economía y trabajo, léxico relacionado con la historia y la revolución tecnológica, derivación, etc. 2. Gramática: perífrasis de continuidad y de cambio, recursos para comparar, corrección de errores gramaticales y de concordancia, el futuro y condicional (simple y compuesto) para expresar hipótesis, estilo directo e indirecto, perífrasis para expresar la idea de desarrollo y progreso, usos de se, construcciones comparativas proporcionales, oraciones concesivas, voz media, uso del subjuntivo alternativo a la nominalización. 3. Características discursivas: hablar sobre los momentos de la carrera profesional de una persona, anteposición del adjetivo, el registro oral, hablar sobre comportamientos sexistas, mecanismos para evocar y transmitir emociones, reflexionar sobre la existencia de las variantes de un idioma, describir emociones contradictorias.

Learning outcomes
The course aims at improving all four language competences in Spanish: active (speaking and writing) and passive (listening and reading); the emphasis, however, will be put on oral expression. This is based on the idea that although the mastery of grammatical elements plays an important role in learning a foreign language, especially within the framework of philological studies, the so-called communicative competence is also highly relevant. The principles of the course are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Teaching Foreign Languages.
Strengthening the competences of common reference level B2 and acquiring level C1: - Listening: understanding long speeches, even without clear structure. Watching Spanish TV and movies without difficulties. - Reading: understanding texts (factual and of fiction), technical articles even outside philology. - Oral skills and speaking interaction: mastering the language (flexibly and efficiently) for social/working purposes and articulation of own thoughts and opinions. Describing complicated topics and drawing appropriate conclusions. - Writing skills: clear articulation and organization of texts, writing detailed letters, essays or messages on complicated topics.
