Course content
The following thematic sections will be covered in the course: 1. Phraseology and its historical development 2. Image of the world and its historical development 3. Basics and theory of phraseology by the principles of cognitive linguistics (and cognitive grammar) 4. How and to what extent is the image of the world of speakers of a particular language reflected in phraseology (comparative analysis of Czech, Spanish, English and German languages) 5. Contributions of this discipline to practical studies, such as teaching of foreign languages, translations, international relations, etc. 6. Comparative phraseological study of particular semantic areas (such as parts of body, animals, plants, feelings of hot or cold, etc.) according to the languages the students participating in the seminar know

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the issue of the study of phrasemes and idioms by the principles of cognitive linguistics. Though the emphasis is put on the Spanish phraseology, comparative study of phraseology of some European languages including Czech will be presented, according to the languages the students participating in the seminar know. In the study the linguistic image of the world and the differences and similarities between the given languages will be examined.
1. Understanding (in the course of the development of linguistics) the term of phraseology 2. Understanding the terms of linguistic image of the world and cognitive etnolinguistics 3. Ability to work with linguistic terminology in Spanish 4. Strengthening already acquired language competence in Spanish 5. Thanks to a simple yet actual linguistic research the students learn in an active way how the principles of a language system work

High level of Spanish.
