- 16th Century. Habsburg crown in Spain (Universal Empire: Carlos I / Felipe II) - 17th century (Felipe III, Felipe IV, Carlos II) - Borbons in Spain: - Spain and revolution: Trafalgar, War of independence and the fall of the American colonies (Francisco de Goya). - First half of the 19th century. From Old regime to liberalism (Romanticismus) - Second half of the 19th century. Looking for stability (realism, naturalism, modernism). - The crisis of the regime of "Restauración". - Republic and War: 1931-1939 - "Franquismo" (1939-1975).

Learning outcomes

Description and analysis of the development of Spanish society from 17th century till today. The emphasis is put on the political economical and social factors and on the culture, traditions and art.
