The course, offering the survey of the history of Brazilian literature, deepens the analysis of the subject matter dealt with in the Introduction to Portuguese and Brazilian Literature.
Students acquire a complex representation of main trends in the evolution of the Brazilian literature since its beginnings in the 16th century up to present days. Students should become able to define main notions, basic notions for the given literary context and interconnect literary questions with culturally historical issues. Students should be able to classify the concrete authors within such context, characterise generally their works and analyse in detail the selected texts. Students learn to discuss the matter and independently approach the interpretation of texts.
