Course content
1. Process of the Romanisation, classical and vulgar Latin 2. Phonological reconstruction of the development - general characteristic 3. Evolution of the vocalic system / accented and unaccented vocals, general phenomena - diphtongization, vocal harmony, syncope, etc.) 4. Evolution of the consonant system - simple consonants at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of words - consonant groups - origin of double consonants - general phenomena (assimilation, dissimilation, prothesis, etc.) 5. Morpho-syntactic reconstruction 6. Evolution of noun categories 7. Origin and evolution of articles 8. Evolution of the pronominal system 9. Evolution of verb categories 10. Adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and conjuctions in Latin and in Italian 11. Evolution of syntactic system: in brief 12. Duecento and Trecento 13. Dante 14. Quattrocento and Cinquecento 15. Learning outcomes
A brief outline of the historical development of the Italian language, Italian influence on other languages??, the development of Italian dialects; reading and analysis of authentic texts from the fields of literature, theology, medicine, law as well as reading and analysis of private letters of various periods.
Students will be able to outline the historical development of the Italian language, to analyze and translate selected literary, scientific or privat text of various periods.

Active participation in seminars, preparation for every lesson. elaborating of paper on a specified topic and its presentation Passing the exam.
