Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the development of Italian literature from its beginnings to the early 17th century. Emphasis will be placed on the development of literary forms and genres, at the relation of the literature with society, mentality and political structures of the period. A specific phenomenon are regional literatures and the coexistence of various literary languages (Florentin, Latin, minor literary dialects). There will also be observed remands in Italian literature of external patterns (Latin and French literature).
Students will get acquainted with the development of Italian literature from its beginnings to the early 17th century. They will be able to distinguish literary forms and genres, to realize the relation of the literature with society, mentality and political structures of the period. They will interpret the texts considering the existence of regional literatures and the coexistence of various literary languages. They will also be able to distinguish texts of various periods and regions, to appreciate their literary value and historical importance.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Written exam

Participation in lectures and seminars, reading specified literary and scientific texts, preparing for the exam, presentation of paper, passing the exam.
