The subject of the KRI / SIL2 course is a detailed acquaintance with the literary work of one or more classics of Italian literature of the twentieth century. In this semester, attention is paid to the work of Eugenio Montale, the greatest Italian poet of his time. Montale's poetry, although chronologically out of contemporaneity, is crucial to understanding its character because it ranges from the end of symbolism to the allegorical and discursive forms of our time. That is why the analysis of Montale's poetic work is presented and followed by several texts from other authors (Baudelaire, D'Annunzio, Pavese, Pasolini, Sereni), necessary for its full understanding. The texts are presented in a historical perspective in order to capture the development of the author's poetry across the most dramatic decades of the last century. Each text is followed by an analysis, both thematically and linguistically. Professional texts will be used to interpret selected poems. All materials will be available in moodle. The course ends with an oral interview and a short written work verifying knowledge and skills based on the content of the course.
