Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the evolution of Italian literature from the beginning of the 17th century to the late 20th century. Emphasis will be given to the development of literary forms and genres, to the link of literature with the society, mentality and political structures of the period of absolutism and totalitarianism (the Habsburgs, Mussolini). As from the 19th century we will observe a connection with the birth of mass literature and, later on, cinematography, globalization.
