Course content

In phonology, we will deal with the phonological foreignness in Czech, in particular with the pronunciation of loan words; as for word formation, the emphasis will be placed on adaptation of foreign nouns and adjectives. In morphology, we will focus on the issues related to the individual parts of speech with an emphasis on the issues of linguistic accuracy, the existence of doublets and the orthographic and morphological adaptation of proper nouns from Romance languages. In syntax, we will discuss the structure of simple clauses, complex and coordinate sentences and the types of subordinate clauses, emphasizing the sentence analysis and the rules of punctuation.
