The course will cover the following topics: 1. Temporal and spatial category in a literary work and their changes 2. Character and hero, the role of character 3. Subject-object relation in a literary work 4. The relation author-character-narrator, the types of focalisation 5. Text and metatext, variation of textual levels 6. Intertextuality and its function

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to enrich the students' knowledge about modern critical approaches to the analysis of literary texts. The semiars will focus on comparative analysis of the relevant passages in literary works of all epochs in French literature.
enrichment of the knowledge about literary theory and the ability to apply it on a particular text perfection of the abilities to work with the different levels of text, the intertextual perception development of the ability to discuss on scholarly matters and the critical reflection

Oral exam, Essay
1/ regular attendance and active participation in the seminars 2/ preparation for each class, knowledge of the text to be analysed The exam will test the knowledge of literary theory, the understanding of the individual literary critical approaches to text and the ability to apply them on a particular literary work.
