Course content
|
The second part of the course shortly describes phonetic, syntactic and morphological modifications in the old French and the samples of the oldest French texts. The middle French (14th - 16th centuries). The modern French (from 17th century). Trends in the evolution of the contemporary French. The linguistic situation of the present France. Regional languages in the territory of France. Historical expansion of French (French-speaking countries).

Learning outcomes
|
The second part of a two-semestral course which will provide a brief survey of the evolution of French language from Vulgar Latin up to the present time, with respect to the external and internal history the language.
Mastery of the subject matter within the scope defined in the Course Objectives. The ability to read texts from this field.
