Course content
The 2nd semester will be dedicated to complex and compound sentences (syntactical relations between sentences: coordination, subordination, juxtaposition, connecting elements). Basic types of complex and compound sentences, their classification, sequence of tenses, introduction into transformation syntax are other topics that will be discussed. Seminars serve for systematic exercising of the phenomena discussed in the lectures. Students will be participating in the seminars through their presentations.

Learning outcomes
The lecture is focused on strategies used in syntactical analysis (substitution and commutation) and on basic syntactical rules.
Students become able to analyse morphological and syntactic aspects of the text. The emphasis is put on the analysis of complex sentences and specific questions of French syntax.
