The aim of this course is to prepare a master diploma thesis. The first part of the seminar introduces the students to methodological and academic rules of writing a diploma thesis. They learn how to look for sources and work with them, how to cite primary and secondary sources, how to refer to them in the bibliography, especially within the framework of French philology, French usage and orthographic and orthotypographic rules in French.
The students learn how to define an academic theme in a way that enables them to discuss it for 80 pages. They also learn how to structure a text so that it keeps a logical thread of argumentation as well as an overall textual coherence.
