Course content
The course will cover the following topics: 1. Beginnings of literature, the literature of the Middle Ages 2. Literature of Classicism and the Enlightenment 5. Literary movements of the 19th century and their representatives 6. New movements at the beginning of the 20th century and the literary production before the War, existencialism 7. Tendencies in the literature at the edge of the 20th century, the current production 8. Basic introduction to francophone literatures in Europe and in the world

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to familiarise the students with the overview of French and francophone literature on the social background.
In this subject, students will will learn the following scope of knowledge and skills, the prove of which will be tested upon completion of the subject. Students are able to: explain the rules of literary creation on the background of social changes, interpret the text, argue about the interdisciplinary scholarly topics.
