Course content
This course will cover the following topics: 1. Definition and specificities of the current French literature 2. Themes and topics in the current French literature 3. Current edition policy, publishing houses, literary awards, role of the literary criticism and journalism, cultural communication 4. Selected representatives of contemporary French novels 5. "Écriture féminine", current literature written by female authors, autobiographical literature 6. Contemporary short story production 7. Contemporary French drama and its representatives 8. Phenomenon of the modern boulevard theatre 9. Contemporary francophone fiction and its forms

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to give an overview of the current French prose and drama and their development and, at the same time, to guide the students to an individual literary-critical analysis of the fragments of the selected major texts.
- deeper understanding of the changes in the current French literature on the cultural and social background - the ability to interpret a text as a structure of meaning - development of the ability to lead a discussion on a specialized topic

1. regular attendance and active participation during the seminars 2. preparation for each class, being familiar with the text to be analysed
