Course content
1. Periodization of the history of linguistics "Prehistoric" period (Egypt, Mesopotamia, China ...). 2. India, Greece, Rome (ancient grammar). The Middle Ages. 3. Renaissance and 16th-18th century (interest in national languages, rationalism, Port-Royal). 4. Comparative and historical grammar of the 19th century. Dialectology. 5. Antoine Meillet and Ferdinand de Saussure. 6. Gustave Guillaume and the Psychomechanics of Language. 7. Lucien Tesni?re.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to familiarize students with the development of linguistic thought from antiquity to the present day. The main emphasis is placed on linguistics during the antiquity and modern linguistics (comparative and historical grammar of the 19th century, structuralism, etc.).

Mark, Oral exam, Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student

The condition for completing the course is regular attendance, active participation in lectures and seminars, and study of professional literature. The exam tests basic orientation in the history of linguistics and knowledge of the main linguistic schools and their theories.
