1. Periodization of the history of linguistics "Prehistoric" period (Egypt, Mesopotamia, China ...). 2. India, Greece, Rome (ancient grammar). The Middle Ages. 3. Renaissance and 16th-18th century (interest in national languages, rationalism, Port-Royal). 4. Comparative and historical grammar of the 19th century. Dialectology. 5. Antoine Meillet and Ferdinand de Saussure. 6. Gustave Guillaume and the Psychomechanics of Language. 7. Lucien Tesni?re.

The aim is to familiarize students with the development of linguistic thought from antiquity to the present day. The main emphasis is placed on linguistics during the antiquity and modern linguistics (comparative and historical grammar of the 19th century, structuralism, etc.).
