This course will cover the following topics: 1. History of Canada from the mosr remote times up to the present time 2. francophone culture in Canada and its most important representatives 3. History of Maghreb and the most important representatives if the francophone culture in northwest Africa 4. History of Sub-Saharan Africa and the most important representatives of the francophone culture of Sub-Saharan Africa 5. Francophone culture on the isles of the Indiand and Pacific oceans

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to make the students familiar with the history and culture of the European francophone countries. The emphasis is put mainly on the most recent history and on the status of the francophone culture in multilingual countries, where it must co-exist with other language cultures.
The students will learn the knowledge and skills in the following scope and they will be able to prove them upon completion of the course in the exam. The students are able to: explain the history of the European francophone countries describe the culture of the francophone countries work with texts from the individual francophone countries

Student performance
1. Regular attendance and active participation in the lectures and seminars 2. Preparation for the classes 3. A presentation The credit test will test the understanding of the basic issues from the history and culture of the non-European francophone countries.
