Course content
This course will cover the following topics: 1. Interference, substrate, adstrate, superstrate 2. Lexical borrowings 3. Faux amis 4. Interference in pronunciation 5. The influence of French on contemporary Czech 6. Interference in translation

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the selected issues of the mutual interference between Czech and French vocabulary. The attention will be mainly paid to the question of so-called faux-amis (false friends) of differend kinds and to the influence of French on the vocabulary of Czech language and its varieties, particularly in the unconventional word stock (slang, argot, professional language, dialect, etc.)
